Ciara Mohan is an educator and multidisciplinary illustrator. Her practice investigates social and political issues. She specialises in illustration, and has a passion for stop motion animation and the use of soft materials. Her work creates a playful and educational experience for her audience, which leaves a lasting impression in their minds.
In her most recent work, she shines a light on the lack of medical research around female health. With a combined practice that uses both illustration and education, she brings these disciplines together to create exciting designs that are equally innovative and educational.
Illustrated here is a stop motion animation that explains endometriosis – a common condition that affects one in ten females in Ireland; a wearable hot water bottle designed to ease pain and comfort people with endometriosis; and a riso publication with interviews and stories of what it's like to have this condition in Ireland.
