The existence of early life on this planet is evident through the discovery of fossils and artefacts. In recent times discarded waste and packaging have been the remnants of the twenty-first century. The excessive amount of plastic filling our oceans and landscapes has become harmful to our ecosystems. Many micro-organisms in the ocean have adapted to their new habitats by consuming plastic.
‘Temporary Pleasures’ is a series of wearable objects, that reference these micro-organisms, magnifying their forms to make visual representations of possible future fossilised artefacts. Is plastic the new detector of an earlier civilisations for generations to come?
