Dublin City Junk
Growing up in Dublin and now attending college on Thomas Street, I have always been aware of open drug use on the streets. I am also very aware of the lack of respect and care people have for addicts on our streets. “Junkie” and “Crackhead” are some of the phrases you hear used around the city daily.
I paper crafted a bouquet of the flowers that commonly used street drugs originate from, to highlight the issue of open drug use on the streets of Dublin, a city that has a long history with the war on drugs. I have also illustrated the streets of Dublin that have been damaged by drug use and still are.
We need to break the stigma surrounding addiction through educating and speaking about it. I’ve made a sticker packet to promote safe drug use. Drug use will happen and I believe we just need to make sure it happens safely.
